About Me

I live with my family and dog on the North Kent coast, where I’ve lived and worked for over 30 years, after growing up in the North-East.

In 2018, after nearly forty years managing businesses (mostly my own, sometimes for other people) I finally got around to the thing I’d always wanted to do – write, and attempt to earn a living from it. I’ve worked mostly in the book trade, running bookshops in the arts and academic sectors, but have also managed a fruit farm, set up a plant centre and nursery, organised food and drink events, owned and run a gift shop and local drinks outlet, had a juice production company, and been dogsbody to my other half in his artisan cidermaking business. I’m a certified nutritional therapist, and recently gained a first-class degree in creative writing from Christ Church University in Canterbury.
